How TV Ruined Aspiration

A great Breakdown by Charlie Brooker listing all of the aspects that affect our own seemly ‘personal’ aspirations (although fed to the whole of society through out our lives utilising the medium of the television). How can we disregard these images to be unimportant? What would happen to the economy if we chose not to pour our live savings into homes, transport, our children, ourselves for the sake of vanity or a form self-pity. Due to the increasingly consumerist images we see, do we not all suffer a Status Anxiety for not being successful, beautiful or wealthy enough as the ‘high-flyers’ on our screens?
